The Buckingham and Winslow Film Society was formed in 1995 with the encouragement of Aylesbury Vale District Council who also provided us with the necessary equipment. We originally showed our films with a 16mm film projector, following a successful grant application to the Film Council Digital Fund, we now use DVD projection allowing us to show a wider range of films. We have now screened over 120 films from countries all around the world, had actors from some of them as guest speakers, and have held screenings in the Winslow Centre and surrounding village halls. Our biggest audiences to date have been for Emma (shown in Claydon House), James and the Giant Peach, and Calendar Girls (shown in association with the Winslow WI). Our aim is to provide a facility to local people with a convivial and sociable atmosphere where they can see high quality films not normally shown in multiplex cinemas. |
